Hi Cricket Lovers
As i had said yesterday, it proved to be exactly what i expected from today except for what happened in the final over of the day when GOD en route to his 100th International ton got bowled by an inducker from Siddle.
Zaheer started the day well by getting Haddin and Siddle early. After a brief resistance from Hilfenhaus and Panttinson who took them past the 300 Hilfenhaus was caught off Ashwin while heaving towards long on. Ashwin brought the Aussie innings to a close at triple nelson (333) with Lyon getting bowled behind his legs. Sehwag and Gambhir survived the overs bowled before lunch was taken.
Sehwag and Gambhir resumed after lunch and soon Gambhir lost his wicket by edging to Haddin with an open face to a seaming ball from Hifenhaus. His loss of form in 2011 continues. Then came the Wall who with the shot maker Sehwag managed a 75 runs partnership. Sehwag score was 67 when he got dismissed but his innings was full of excitement with a lot of missed chances. He survived an easy chance to Hussey at the start of the innings, then he nearly mistimed a shot to Warner at long on when he tried to attack Lyon after hitting him for 2 consecutive 4's. He survived another chance to the diving hands of Haddin during a fearsome spell from Pattinson but got an inside edge driving him just before tea was to take place.
The GOD came to the crease with the standing ovation from the MCG crowd and survived a scare just on the 2nd ball he face while his nick just dropped few inches shot of the short leg fielder. Resuming after the break it was looking as if Sachin switched into Sehwag mood determined not to leave any deliveries outside off by guiding the first ball to the maximum above the slip cordon and the next ball for a triple to the midwicket. Sachin never looked back for the next 2 hours with Siddle and Lyon suffering the most from his form. On the other side Dravid was doing what he does best by sticking his bat around till the close of play even though he played and missed a lot. Dravid and Sachin reached their 20th century partnership as pair (most prolific pair in world today) and soon after Siddle got one ball to go through Dravid's defence but the roaring crowd at MCG was silenced when the replays showed that Siddle had overstepped.
GODs inning came to an end at the stroke when all of us in India started believing that he will reach his 100th Century tomorrow but still we cannot forget to appreciate the fact that his inning was a masterclass till it lasted and am sure that day will come sooner rather that later when he scores the elusive TON.
All in All a great day of cricket for India and India will hope to build on this day tomorrow by adding at least 300 more to its score tomorrow and take there lead over Australia near 200 and attack them in the 2nd innings.
will be back tomorrow with more updates
Till then
Bye
